Make a Surprise Tree A pretty calendar to countdown the days before Christmas. An activity the whole family can enjoy.
Material for the tree- 1 square meter of semi-rigid lightweight felt
- 1 square meter of a rigid cardboard
- Used fabric or padding material
- Green wool
- A big needle
- Glitter spray
Material for the surprise pockets
- Sheets of about 21 X 29,7 cm of lightweight felt in all colors
- Buttons or small safety pins (can be found on tags in children’s clothing))
- Glitter gel pens
- Any recycled material that canbe used to decorate
- Golden wool
Instructions - Making the tree
- Draw a fir tree onto the rigid cardboard.
- On the felt, draw the same tree but add 3cm to the dimensions.
- Stuff the padding (or several layers of fabric) between the cardboard and the felt.
- Sew along the edges of the tree.
- Spray the tree with the golden glitter.
- Attach a woollen rope to the back of the tree to hang it on the wall.
 | Instructions - Making the surprise pockets These surprise pockets will allow you to make your tree look like the real thing! - Trace Christmas shapes (ball ornaments, bells, stars, boots, snowmen, etc.) onto the felt and fabric.
- For each shape, sew together the pieces of fabric and felt, leaving an opening for the surprise. On each side of the pocket sew handles out of golden wool.
- With the glitter gel pens, write the numbers 1 to 24 on the pockets.
