The Hen and her Eggs
A delicate craft that you can hang in the window at Easter
Craft materials - Self-hardening modelling paste or salt dough
- Wire
- Paint brushes
- Paint (gouache or acrylic)
This activity allows children to: - develop agility with different mediums
- understand the meaning of Easter
Instructions: - Cut several pieces of dough or paste and shape the hen’s body, head, beak as well as three small eggs.
- Assemble all the hen parts using a bit of water if necessary.
Pass a wire of about 30 cm through the hen’s body. Add a little piece of dough or paste under the hen to make it hold on the wire.
- Do the same with the eggs, except for the last one. Sink the wire into the last egg without making it come out the other side.
- At the other extremity, make a hook with the wire.
- Let it air dry if you used modelling paste or make it dry in the oven if you used the salt dough.
- Paint the details on the hen and decorate the eggs.
