Halloween Safety

Halloween!

Basic Trick-or-Treat safety rules:
  • During Trick-or-Treat, a parent or responsible adult should always accompany young children.
  • Children of any age should never trick-or-treat alone; they should have at least two buddies with them.
  • Stay in familiar neighborhoods. Trick-or-treaters should plan their route before leaving home and tell an adult what the route is. Adults should set a curfew. Send a cell phone along with older ghouls and goblins who go out by themselves. Make sure the battery is charged and make sure an adult is available to if trick-or-treaters need to call home.
  • Trick-or-treaters should wait until they get home and their parents can check their candy before they indulge.
  • Adults going with trick-or-treaters should clearly point out a meeting place for in case they get separated. Tell the child where you'll be: will you walk with them to each door, or wait on the sidewalk in front of each home?
  • Discard homemade treats.

A Superb Halloween Sweetened Receipt for Kids

Candy always makes a welcome gift  !

Halloween AppleIngredients:
  • 12 medium apples
  • 12 long, wooden sticks or chopsticks
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cinnamon red hots (optional)
  • 15 drops red natural food coloring
Preparation:
  • Butter a cookie sheet and line it with parchment paper. Butter the paper and set the sheet aside.
  • Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Remove the stems and turn the apples upside down. Since the tops are usually larger and flatter, the apples should stay upright. Insert a wooden stick into each apple, pushing about two thirds of the way through. Set the prepared apples aside.
  • Combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and red hots in a heavy medium saucepan. Stir over low heat until the sugar and red hots are completely dissolved and the syrup comes to a boil.
  • Clip a candy thermometer to the inside of the pan and cook the syrup, without stirring, until it reaches 310°F .
  • Remove the pan from the hear and stir in the food coloring.
  • Tilt the pan to create a deeper pool of sugar syrup. Dip one apple into the syrup, turning it as necessary to cover it completely. Allow any excess syrup to drip back into the pan, then place the apple on the prepared cookie sheet. Repeat with the remaining apples. Allow the candy coating to cool and set before serving, about 1 hour. Peel the apples off the parchment and serve as soon as possible.
