Preserving ancient Andean custom, the Paucar Family recreates elements from the Inca calendar on a trio of terracotta vases. Based on the movement of the sun and the phases of the moon, the Inca calendar is two-fold. The huato (year) is solar, but the quilla (months) depend upon lunar calculations, and certain economic, social and religious activities correspond to each month.
