Valentine and the Children

Amongst the numerous stories on the origins of Valentine's Day there is one that tells a story of a man called Valentine who was a friend of children. Because he was refusing to make sacrifices, he was put to jail. His friends were visiting him and bringing him presents and love letters.

A shinning heart For Valentine's Day!

 




Craft materials

•    1 very rigid cardboard (box style)
•    Sequins
•    Glue
•    Retractable utility knife
•    String
•    Pencil

This activity allows children to:
•    Understand the meaning of this celebration.
•    Develop attention to detail, their creativity and their patience.
•    Discover the pleasures of giving and making someone happy.

Instructions

•    Trace the shape of a heart on the cardboard. Cut out the shape with the retractable utility knife.  
•    Starting at the bottom, apply glue to the heart. Starting at the bottom, apply the sequins, making them overlap just like fish scales, right to the top.  
•    Let dry.
•    Coat a string with glue and while applying a bit of pressure to make the string stick properly wrap it around the heart
•    Make a small hole at the top of the heart and thread a small string through it. Make a bow.

And there you have it! Pretty hearts to hang throughout the house. It will warm your hearts!  It also makes a perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
